THE WEIGHT PROBLEM,
INVERTED
On most platforms, weight capacity is generous and garment mass is a secondary concern. The NEO inverts this equation. At 30 kg total system mass, the platform's actuators are calibrated for domestic tasks: folding laundry, carrying dishes, opening doors. Adding even 500 grams of poorly distributed garment weight alters the platform's gait dynamics and increases energy consumption measurably. A heavy jacket that a 70 kg humanoid would not register becomes a meaningful load on the NEO's drive system.
Our 1X NEO clothing uses ultralight construction throughout. Primary panels are cut from technical knits weighing under 90 grams per square meter. Seams are bonded rather than stitched where possible, eliminating thread weight and the bulk of folded seam allowances. Closures use magnetic snap interfaces rather than metal zippers. The complete garment weight for a NEO tunic, our most requested piece, comes in under 180 grams. For comparison, a standard cotton t-shirt weighs approximately 150 grams. We achieve full coverage, tailored fit, and finished construction within that envelope.
The NEO's 37 degrees of freedom are distributed with an emphasis on upper-body dexterity. Shoulder and arm joints handle the fine motor tasks of domestic work, while the lower body maintains efficient, quiet locomotion. Our patterns reflect this asymmetry. Tops are constructed with wider articulation allowances at the shoulder and elbow. Lower garments use simpler panel geometry, following the platform's more predictable leg mechanics.
